What is a bathroom remodel?

A bathroom remodel is a renovation of your existing bathroom that will transform it. Loyal Bathrooms are experts in bathroom design, so you can be sure they’ll make your new bathroom look stunning!

The benefits of bathroom remodelling

A Loyal Bathroom’s bathroom remodel can increase the value of your home. It will also improve your quality of life, as a more luxurious bathroom means you’ll spend more time relaxing and pampering yourself.

When is a bathroom remodel not advised?

Bathroom renovations are always worth considering – provided you have enough space to accommodate them. Bathroom renovations aren’t always advisable during certain times of the year or for people who have illnesses or disabilities which prevent them from using their bathrooms regularly. If this applies to you, Loyal Bathrooms may advise against changing your current layout until after these circumstances change.

What is involved in bathroom remodelling?

There are several stages that Loyal Bathroom Fitter follows when undertaking any type of bathroom remodelling.

Creating a foundation

This is the first stage that Loyal Bathroom Fitter follows when undertaking bathroom renovations. Loyal Bathrooms use this as an opportunity to analyse the layout of your current space and decide on a new plan that will suit you best.

Laying the groundwork

Loyal Bathrooms begin by digging and laying down any additions such as foundations for flooring or walls. If necessary, Loyal Bathrooms carry out plumbing work at this stage too. This process can take up to 24 hours, so it’s important not to enter the room during this time unless with the Loyal team, who are qualified for all aspects of bathroom fitting, which includes building control certification.

The waterworks

Once the groundwork is completed, Loyal Bathrooms begins installing all of the bathroom fixtures and fittings. This process includes building walls around showers or baths, tiling areas that will be used for washing with waterproof boarding underneath to prevent leaks soaking into your floorboards.

Establishing the atmosphere

The final stage in a bathroom fit involves adding any finishing touches such as towel rails, toilet roll holders etc. If you are looking at having an electrical item fitted, please bear in mind that these can take up to six weeks for delivery, after which time installation takes place with qualified electricians ensuring safety standards are met throughout this entire project from start to finish.

How long will it take to complete my bathroom remodel from start to finish?

The amount of time it takes to complete your bathroom remodel will depend on which materials you choose, and whether or not there are any existing plumbing issues. Some of the most popular choices for bathrooms include:

• 12-14 days for flooring

• Wall tiles and tiling – up to four weeks (including drying time)

• Vanity units-approximately one week, with installation taking another three days.

I’ve made a plan for my bathroom remodel. How do I begin to put it into action?

The first step is always planning! We recommend getting in touch with our friendly team members who can either meet you at home or come out to visit your local showroom so that they can take measurements, discuss designs, and let you know what is possible.

We have several options to choose from when it comes to bathroom renovations and we’ll be able to help you select the right materials for your project as well as provide you with a plan to achieve your dream bathroom. We can also help source products that are not included in our current portfolio if it is something specific that you need for the project.

When should I begin?

The sooner you get started on your remodel, the better! Our dedicated team will be able to assist and guide you every step of the way, but we recommend getting things underway early so that there’s no delay later down the track, which could result in extra costs or loss of time due to unexpected circumstances arising.

Do I need to have design ideas before contacting you?

Not at all! Our team is more than happy to help with this stage of the process and we can assist in creating a design that suits your needs.

What is your best advice for me?

If you are not sure about what type of lighting you might need in your bathroom, it’s always good to get expert guidance from someone who has experience with such projects. Alternatively, if possible, try visiting friends whose house renovations have been completed recently so you can take note of how they chose their lights.

What should I do to prepare my home for a bathroom remodel?

  • Clear out unwanted items from rooms, such as old furniture or appliances you no longer require, so there’s enough room for tradespeople to move around comfortably without any obstructions.
  • Clear away floor coverings where tiles will be laid (carpets/rugs)
  • Remove taps, shower fixtures, and other plumbing hardware.
  • Fix any damaged grout.
  • Leave valves exposed if they need replacing.
  • Clean up and remove excess dust.
  • Put down drop sheets before painting walls.
  • Ensure all windows are free of obstructions before starting work.
  • Remove any glass shower doors and store them safely out of the way (or remove them yourself if you are confident enough to do so).
  • Cover furniture with sheets or, better still, move it into another room during work hours. Make sure your coverings are secure against dust.
  • Also, ensure any uncovered items, such as lampshades, etc., have protection on them too.
  • Before beginning work, remove all foodstuffs from kitchen cupboards and refrigerator/freezers; pack away cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery. Seal off bins outside for rubbish removal.
  • It’s also worth covering sinks with a damp cloth to protect them from splashes when working underneath taps-but remember to take it away later!

How much lighting will be required in my bathroom?

This depends on the size of your bathroom. If it is large, you may need to install more than one type of lighting to ensure that every corner has good light sources.

What’s the difference between a bathroom renovation and a remodel?

A bathroom renovation is an extensive refurbishment project when the entire room is re-done. A remodel only involves part of a space being worked on.

What is involved in a full bathroom remodel, and what about a partial one?

A full bathroom renovation entails the demolition of old tiles and fixtures, installing new ones and then painting and decorating afterwards. A partial one is a smaller project that involves just redecorating or re-tiling an area within the room.
